- Who we are
About Us
Founded by electricians and industry innovators Matthew Downie and James Murray, our mission is to transform electric vehicles (EVs) into dynamic energy resources. Our groundbreaking technology allows EVs to power homes, businesses, smart tech, and even support the national grid. V2Grid Australia offers a grassroots solution to a larger economic and environmental challenge through smart charging technology, paving the way for a more sustainable and resilient energy future.
Our vision
Our vision is to redefine the role of electric vehicles (EVs) in Australia by transforming them into sustainable, dynamic assets that support both home and national energy needs.
We envisage a future where every EV is not just a vehicle, but a clean energy resource that powers homes and businesses while supporting the grid and creating a more resilient, sustainable Australia for future generations.
Our Mission
Our mission is to lead Australia’s vehicle-to-grid (V2G) transformation by providing innovative, smart charging solutions that empower Australians to fully leverage their EVs. We’re committed to making V2G accessible, sustainable, and seamless for individuals and businesses alike, turning EVs into energy contributors that improve energy security and reduce emissions.
What is
V2G?
Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) tech, utilized in a range of EV’s, enables them not just to draw power but also to supply surplus energy back to the grid. This two-way energy exchange presents opportunities for EV owners to earn extra income by participating in grid services like peak shaving, frequency regulation, and demand response. It’s a win-win, benefiting both Kia and EV owners while contributing to a more resilient and efficient energy ecosystem.

The Next Generation of Charging
V2Grid Australia offers more than a charging station. Our advanced V2G technology transforms EVs into mobile energy sources that has the capacity to give power back to the grid when it’s needed most. Whether powering a home during a blackout, balancing energy loads at work, or feeding back to the grid, our solution is a smart investment in energy independence. This next-generation charging infrastructure is designed to adapt as grid technology evolves, making our system future-proof and reliable.
With our unique, first-to-market technology, Australia’s energy landscape is moving towards a cleaner, more self-reliant future, where every EV is a contributor to a stronger, more sustainable grid.

Bidirectional charging technology
Electric vehicles (EVs) can help you save on energy costs by doing more than just getting you from point A to B. Through bidirectional charging technology, EVs not only take in power but can also send electricity back out – giving you the opportunity to power your home or feed energy back into the grid. V2G is a form of bidirectional charging that allows an EV’s battery to supply power to the grid, similar to how solar systems with net metering send excess energy back to the grid for bill credits. This capability can relieve stress on the grid during peak times and maximize the value of your electric vehicle.
V2G technology offers several advantages:
- By providing energy back to the grid during high demand, V2G can help stabilize it
- EVs equipped with V2G allow you to earn credits on your electric bill, maximizing your solar or EV investment
- With V2G, EVs serve as mobile batteries, making it easier to use clean energy
- In addition to V2G, other forms of bidirectional charging include:
- Vehicle-to-Home (V2H): Powers your home during outages
- Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-toVehicle (V2V): Powers individual devices or other EVs
